Untitled-4This year is almost at an end. For many of us the winter months are the off season for training. However that does not mean that you cannot get out and get a head start on the 2010 season.

With that in mind we are pleased to announce the following dog training classes.

Obedience Training.
Wild Rose Hunting Retriever Club member, Eda L. Milne, is back and is offering a great set of obedience classes. As you may well know, the foundation of any good retriever or any dog is a solid level of obedience. Eda has mentioned that some of the training will focus on retrievers, however the training is open to non WRHRC members as well. The 10 week classes offered are for basic or novice polishing and will begin on Jan. 5th at the Braeside Community Center. 11024 Braeside Dr. S.W. Cost is $175.00 for basic obedience course and $105.00 for the novice course and run from 6pm – 7pm and 7pm – 8pm respectively. For more information or contact info please see the course brochure located here.

Basic Retriever Class

Veteran club members and new additions should be pleased to hear that Randy Blanchard and Carl Ellingsen will be putting on a basic retriever training class starting in mid March. This 10 week course is aimed an beginner retrievers and is open exclusively to WRHRC members. The cost is only $95 and the exact dates and times of training are to be announced. This should prove to be a great experience for those starting the sport or a good refresher for those who may need polishing on the basic retriever skills. Both of these members and their dogs have proven they know their stuff.

Club member and trainer, Shaun Brien will put on a one day quartering clinic after the basic retrieving course. Quartering is a great skill that’s a must have for upland bird dogs, waterfowl retrievers, hunt tests and field trial competitors. The date and time of the clinic will also be announced in an upcoming post.

This is a great winter and spring dog training lineup and is sure to appeal to a large number of our members and prospective members. Special thanks to the above mentioned for donating their time, experience and expertise to help us and our dogs improve.
